Hazard recognition and risk assessment are core competencies in safety and they require a tremendous amount of thought, specific knowledge regarding the type of work and its processes, and the ability to foresee what might happen next.
This course is an introduction to the tools needed to successfully complete a risk assessment. You will study different examples of risk assessments, processes, and examples in order to learn from the information gathering process. You will also learn about writing a risk assessment and how to include others in the process. The course also covers how to determine a risk level for the hazard and probability combination, how to create a hazard log, and what the hierarchy of controls involves. Other topics covered in the course include Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Safety Checklists and Job Hazard Alerts.
